Dataset ID: d789504
Description:
This dataset contains monthly nephanalyses of average daily cloud cover for the central Pacific Ocean. The data are on a 2.5-degree grid covering the Pacific from 30S latitude to 57.5N, and from 105E longitude to 282.5E. The analyses were provided by James Sadler of the University of Hawaii.
Dataset ID: d672005
Description:
Scatterometer data from Seasat, until the mission abruptly ended in October 1978, was used to derive 10-meter wind speed components over the global ocean at 2.5-degree resolution. These winds were then used to compute surface stress using the Large and Pond formulation for the drag coefficient, assuming neutral stability.
Dataset ID: d726001
Description:
Climate variations on seasonal-to-decadal (S2D) timescales can have enormous social, economic, and environmental impacts, making skillful predictions on these time scales an invaluable tool for policymakers and stakeholders. Such variations modulate the likelihood and intensity of extreme weather events including, tropical cyclones (TCs), heat waves, winter storms, atmospheric rivers (ARs), and floods, which have all been associated with (1) increases in human morbidity and mortality rates; (2)…
Dataset ID: d651009
Description:
This dataset includes ensemble prediction experiments using the CESM2 model. These are "perfect model prediction experiments" in which the simulations are initialized with nearly identical conditions from CESM2 historical simulations in the year 2010 and then integrated forward for two years. Ensemble prediction sets are initialized on January 1, March 1, May 1, July 1, September 1, and November 1. Five different initial conditions, taken from five different CESM2 historical simulations, are us…

Dataset ID: d789655
Description:
This 30-member ensemble of CESM1 and WACCM hindcast simulations for the 1979-2014 period is produced using the fully coupled CESM1 simulations and that of a high-top atmosphere-only Whole Atmosphere Community Climate Model (WACCM) as its component. This project is created by researchers at WHOI in collaboration with NCAR researchers.
Dataset ID: d583120
For ancillary use only - not recommended as a primary research dataset. It has likely been superseded by newer and better datasets.
Description:
The monthly means of surface and flux fields from ECMWF ERA-40 reanalysis project are in this dataset.
Dataset ID: d119000
For ancillary use only - not recommended as a primary research dataset. It has likely been superseded by newer and better datasets.
Description:
Thirty years of monthly surface station temperature data from the Arctic north of 60 degrees were objectively analyzed to produce the gridded analyses in this dataset.

There are 1626 public datasets in the GDEX archive. The GDEX dataset search and discovery allows you to search for datasets by keyword and filter by facets. Facet descriptions are given below, including the number of datasets (in parentheses) in each.

Keywords (1626)
Keywords are high-level groupings of parameters describing a topic or subtopic - e.g. Atmosphere (topic), Clouds (subtopic of Atmosphere).
Variable (1626)
A variable or parameter is the quantity that is measured, derived, or computed - e.g. the data value.
Platform (1626)
The platform is the entity or type of entity that acquired or computed the data (e.g. aircraft, land station, reanalysis model).
Spatial Resolution (376)
This refers to the horizontal distance between discrete gridpoints of a model product, reporting stations in a network, measurements of a moving platform, etc.
Time Resolution (243)
This refers to the distance in time between discrete observation measurements, model product valid times, etc.
Data Format (1624)
This refers to the structure of the bitstream used to encapsulate the data values in a record or file - e.g ASCII, netCDF, etc.
Data Type (1626)
This refers to the type of data values - e.g. grid (interpolated or computed gridpoint data), platform observation (in-situ and remotely sensed measurements), etc.
Project / Experiment (879)
This is the scientific project, field campaign, or experiment that acquired the data.
Supports Project (51)
This refers to data that were acquired to support a scientific project or experiment (e.g. GATE) or that can be used as ingest for a project (e.g. WRF).
Location (113)
This is the name of the (usually geographic) location or region for which the data are valid.
