Western US Snowpack Reanalysis, 2015-2023

This dataset provides a daily, gridded reanalysis of snow water equivalent
(SWE) and snow depth across the western United States for water years 2015
through 2023. Output fields were produced by assimilating SNOTEL station
observations and MODIS fractional snow-covered area into a physically based
snow model, run at 1 km spatial resolution.

Fields include:

- Snow water equivalent (SWE), mm
- Snow depth, cm
- Snowmelt runoff, mm/day
- Model uncertainty estimate (ensemble spread), mm

Data are provided in Zarr format for efficient cloud access, with a
companion set of NetCDF files covering the same period for users who prefer
traditional file-based access.

This dataset is in **preprint** status and has been deposited in the GDEX
Exchange area ahead of formal publication. It is provided for early access,
review, and feedback. Please contact the dataset authors before citing this
work in a peer-reviewed publication.
