Abstract:

This dataset runs the 2 degree CESM2 SSP2-4.5 and SSP5-8.5 experiments following the protocol described in: Meinshausen, M., Nicholls, Z. R., Lewis, J., Gidden, M. J., Vogel, E., Freund, M., ... & Wang, R. H. (2020). The shared socioeconomic pathway (SSP) greenhouse gas concentrations and their extensions to 2500. Geoscientific Model Development, 13 (8), 3571-3605, https://doi.org/10.5194/gmd-13-3571-2020, 2020.

Each SSP scenario runs is comprised of 4 experiments:

  1. One simulation spanning 2015-2100 using the SSP protocol which restarted using data from the historical run b.e21.BHIST.f19_g17.CMIP6-historical-2deg.001 at year 2015.
  2. One simulation spanning 2100-2130 which cycles through the forcing of the year 2100 for 30 years. This experiment is meant to create a short climate variability dataset.
  3. One simulation spanning 2100-2300 extending the SSP simulation from the end of 2100.
  4. One simulation spanning 2250-2280 which cycles through the forcing from year 2250.

These simulations can be directly compared to their 1 degree CESM2 counterparts.

See the Documentation tab for a complete list of available variables.

These runs were supported with resources from NSF OPP (#2045075 and #2044965).

Citation counts are compiled through information provided by publicly-accessible APIs according to the guidelines developed through the https://makedatacount.org/ project. If journals do not provide citation information to these publicly-accessible services, then this citation information will not be included in GDEX citation counts. Additionally citations that include dataset DOIs are the only types included in these counts, so legacy citations without DOIs, references found in publication acknowledgements, or references to a related publication that describes a dataset will not be included in these counts.
