How to Submit Data

Submission Instructions
To submit data to the Geoscience Data Exchange (GDEX), please complete the following steps:
- Prerequisite: Meet Eligibility Requirements
- To be eligible to archive your datasets in GDEX, you will need to be a member of one or more of the following groups:
- NCAR staff,
- UCAR Community Program (UCP) Staff,
- Appointed NCAR affiliated scientists,
- ICARUS Community data provider,
- NSF-funded Community Instrument Facilities (CIF).
- Other External Collaborators are considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Only data relevant to Earth system science are currently accepted by GDEX.
- Data must be in standardized, non-proprietary, machine-readable formats suitable for long-term preservation and interoperability.
- Metadata records must be sufficiently complete to enable data cataloging, discovery, understanding, and reuse.
- Step 1: Complete a Submit Request
- Step 2: If the GDEX Appraisal team approves acceptance of your dataset to GDEX, submit metadata
information and data files to the GDEX Curator.
- If approved, the GDEX Curator will contact you via email to provide you with instructions to submit your metadata information and data files.
- Step 3: Verify metadata information and data files via the dedicated landing page.
- The GDEX Curator will send you the link to the landing page when it is available for review.
- Step 4: Obtain dataset publication confirmation from the GDEX Curator.
- The GDEX Curator will send you the confirmation via email.
- The confirmation will include a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) that can be used to cite your data.
