The Geoscience Data Exchange (GDEX) is managed by the Information Systems Division (ISD) of the Computational and Information Systems Laboratory (CISL) at the NSF National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). Software engineering is performed by the Software Applications and Gateway Engineering (SAGE) Section. Data stewardship is performed by the Digital Asset Services Hub (DASH) team. GDEX contains a diverse collection of Earth System Sciences datasets.

Mission Statement

The Geoscience Data Exchange (GDEX) mission is to provide data preservation and FAIR, public access to data and other digital research assets related to the Earth and its atmosphere, oceans, and space environment. GDEX fulfills federal and scientific publication requirements for open data access by:

This mission intentionally supports and aligns with those of NCAR and its sponsor, the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Collection Scope

GDEX provides persistent data archiving and distribution for data collections from the NSF National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) Community Programs (UCP), and projects funded by the NSF Geoscience Directorate.
