Goals:
Fast burst photooxidation of alkanols (high-NOx). Gas-aerosol-wall partitioning kinetics. Determine accommodation coefficient (alpha) and effective volatility under differing seed aerosol types (differing phase and polarities, inorganic/organic, humid/dry, standards/SOA).
Summary:
Alkanols, Methyl nitrite, NO, and particle seed added to chamber, UV lights turned on for 10 sec, multifunctional products formed. In most experiments in this experimental set, 10-s UV light/photochemistry burst repeated a few times. SMPS measurements of particle size distributions were conducted to determine particle formation, surface area and condensational sink rate coefficients.
Gas-phase chemical species were measured with nitrate CIMS.
