:story = "\nClara Deser and Jim Hurrell wanted a SST and SEAICE datasets that spanned\n1870-2005. The Hadley data from http://www.hadobs.org/ were downloaded. \nThese SST values were used to compute a Hadley 1971-2000 climatology. \nThis Hadley climatology was used to compute anomalies. The Hadley \nanomalies were added to the NCEP-OI2 1971-2000 climatology to create \na new SST dataset spanning 1870-2005. \n \nThe 187001-198110 data from these new datasets were merged with the \nthe NCEP-OI2 198111-Present dataset. \n \nAll SST values were subjected to the Hurrell SST/SEAICE consistency \ncriteria. \n \nThe same software was used for land interpolation Hadley and NCEP-OI2. \nLinear interpolation was used when only a few pts needed to be filled. \nNear coasts of large land areas, a nearest neighbor was used for a few \ngrid points inland. Then a iterative bilinear interpolator \nwas used. Results are visually ok. Central Siberia has some issues \nbecause areas like the Aral Sea influence the interpolations. \n \n";
